The Corpse Reviver No. 2 — The Original Hair of the Dog
Before brunch cocktails were a lifestyle, there was the Corpse Reviver. A drink literally designed to bring you back from the dead — equal parts, perfectly balanced, and finished with a ghost of absinthe that changes everything.
This one dates to the 1930s. Harry Craddock put it in the Savoy Cocktail Book and added the warning himself — have four in succession and you won't revive the corpse, you'll be one. We're taking that seriously tonight.
What's in the glass:
Dingle Gin — Irish craft gin. Floral, coastal, botanical without being loud. Plays beautifully in an equal-parts build.
Luxardo Triplum Triple Sec — Premium orange liqueur. Cleaner and drier than
Cointreau, lets the other ingredients stay in their lane.
Lillet Blanc — French aperitif wine. Honey, citrus, a little bitterness. The soul of this cocktail.
Fresh lemon juice — The thing that ties it all together.
Absinthe atomizer — One spritz. That's it. You'll know it's there.
The Build: 1oz Dingle Gin | 1oz Luxardo Triplum | 1oz Lillet Blanc | 1oz fresh lemon juice | Absinthe rinse via atomizer
Combine in a shaker with ice. Shake hard. Spritz your coupe with absinthe. Double strain and serve up. Lemon twist.
